Energy Saving Light Fittings
Legrand light fittings?
I have moved into a new Barratt home recently and have struggled to find a conventional light shade to go over the fitted Legrand light fittings in the master bedroom/staircase lights.
The energy saving bulbs have 4 prongs unlike the conventional bayonet type.
Apart from changing the actual light fitting, does anyone know where i can purchase light shades or similar for these fittings, or have any advice on what i can do.

Those special low energy fittings are put in new houses to comply with building regulations. There is no reason for using those special fittings over bayonet or edison-screw low-energy lamps, apart from the regulations.
If I were you, I would remove them and replace them with conventional bayonet pendants.
You may be able to simply remove the white flex cord from the fitting, rather than removing the whole ceiling rose, (which can be tricky if you’ve not done it before). But I’m not sure exactly what type of fitting you have so can’t advise much more than that.
Pendants only cost a £1 or two. The big advantage of changing to a BC pendant, is that you have a much larger selection of lamps to choose from, and they will inevitably be cheaper to buy. Those 4-pin low energy lamps aren’t really that reliable anyway.
And then you can fit the shades you want too.
