Normal price of one bulb is 98p but if you buy 5 bulbs the total price is only 40p which is only 8p per bulb.

My personal ones in the house are:
1. I always switch my TV, DVD and SKY off at the mains when not in use, the same with the PC.
2.I knock my home phone off during the day on the mains, I ain’t there to answer it so why have it on.
3. I fill the kettle only to min level.
4. I very rare have my lights on when it gets dark, the TV and the PC provides enough light in living room.
5. I only have my heating on for 2-3 hours a day, on weekends when I ain’t working I put on extra clothing if I feel cold.
6. I sometimes down brand when buying food.
7. If I want a DVD I will always look for the cheapest I use finddvd.co.uk and play.com or Ebay and locate the cheapest even if it’s second hand.

Outdoor Lighting Repair
Outlets in bathroom and one outdoor outlet does not work. Everything else does work.?
Yesterday we woke up and both bathroom outlets and one outdoor outlet did not work. Everything else in the house does work (lights, outlets, etc.). I flipped all the breakers and still nothing. I know very little about home repair. Any help would be appreciated and please try and keep it in layman’s term.
The outlets in the bathrooms are not GFI. The one outside is also not a GFI outlet…just a regular old outlet.
The only GFI outlets I found were in the garage.
The house is 20 years old. Also the outlet outside had an extension cord for our christmas lights hooked into it and water got in it the night before the outlets stopped working. So that probably is the issue. When I get home I am going to try the GFI outlets in the garage.
Older wired homes with GFI protection were usually wired with one GFI in garage and it controlled all garage, bath and outside outlets.
Now of course you have 2 kitchen gfi circuits 1 garage 1 or more outdoor and 1 for each bath.
That garage GFI you have is most likely for both baths and outdoor outlets. If it does not reset it may need replacement.

Why do High Street shops waste so much heating energy?
We should all “do our bit” to save the planet. But it’s somewhat discouraging to be told to switch off lights, change bulbs, turn down thermostats etc. and then we see High Street shops with their doors wide open all winter whatever the weather. Many of these have expensive hot-air curtains running too! What’s more, we pay for that wasted electricity in the price of goods.
Should we boycott those shops or at least keep mentioning it to their managers at each visit?

That lamp base is on clearance, so they must not have the shade any longer. It’s a whole lamp, but this one from Target is cute, isn’t it? The shade is a great match with that base; punchier than the base that it comes with.

Does anyone know where I can locate two brass socket caps for an antique floor lamp?
I have a vintage floor lamp that has two brass pull chain sockets. The tops are the type that look like a regular socket cap that has a screw-on ring with a set screw. I need two caps that do not have the screw-on ring with a set screw and have a solid bowl. I have unsuccesfully tried eBay. Any suggestions?
Go to a quality lighting store. They usually have vendors that can supply most any kind of socket that you may need. I do a lot of repairs at my store in Pa. and a lot of old parts are requested on a regular basis. Usually there is no problem finding a part that I need or a client needs. This kind of service can’t be found on e-bay.
