How do I install a ‘table lamp rocker’ style on/off switch to a lamp that currently switches on/off from mains?

I have 2 touch lamps that thanks to the bulbs blowing no longer work as such. Have had them repaired before and was expensive and if I do so again I know that they will probably go again! At present we have to switch them on/off from the mains socket which is a bit of a nuisance as they’re used as bedside lamps. Needless to say the dimmer function no longer works but can live with that. Thought I may be able to salvage them by putting in an on/off switch directly on to the power cord like traditional table lamps. Is this easy to do or do I need an electrician-I can actually wire a plug!

Relatively easy. To by-pass the touch control, go into the base of the lamp. Remove the box control and wire cord into wires that go to the socket or sockets. You can add in a rocker on/off switch anywhere it is easy for you to reach. Most rockers come with install instructions and some vary but usually you cut the hot side and screw the leads into the rocker. Pretty easy.

Heck Dudes! My bedside lamp light bulb has just exploded.?

Functional for many years, one of those little desk-top neo anglepoise things, bulb wattage never exceeded, no external factors such as flooding, thunderstorm or a can of something liquid being opened in the wrong direction. Worrying thing is that I have so far only found one of the pieces. Has anyone else had this experience? Fortunately I was not actually in bed at the time and was still wearing my glasses. I have now unplugged it.
Do you think I should:
a) Go to bed ignoring possible death threat by laceration and slowbleeding before I reach level three.
b) Walk around house in safety goggles from now on.
c) Upgrade household insurance premium and change over to tea lights.
Any help please in spirit in which it is intended.
It was very scary though when it happened.

I’ve had this happen three times in the past. It has happened to my friends too. I was eating a meal one night when the bulb exploded and glass landed all over the table. I phoned my local Trading Standards telling them where the bulb was purchased etc. After a couple of days they phoned to say it was due to probable rough handling during transportation. I wish you would report it to your local Trading Standards office too, and anyone else who has had same experience. It’s the only way we can stop the sale of these dangerous bulbs.

I wanted to find something other than a plane jane chandelier hanging from the middle such as in the photo. Since the wedding is a garden theme, I wanted to have some sort of huge flower basket with lights twinkleing in it to hang from the middle. Does anyone have any idea how this could be done or has anyone seen this or have pics???? please help my creativity bone is broken i guess!! Much appreciation in advance.

Today I picked up a vase i have, sorry i don’t have a pick of it, and held it to the sunlight, it made beautiful colors everywhere. It looked like i was looking at the night sky with stars and galaxies everywhere on my ceiling. If you don’t use a basket then you could maybe use some of these vases and tip them upside down and put lights thru them which will have a pretty lighting effect throughout the tent. I’m pretty sure they’re at walmart. Maybe stained glass, mazaics. =D

What colour(s) should I paint my new living room/kitchen?

I have dark chocolate brown leather couches a 3 seater and a love seat along with dark brown tables and white contemporary lamps. Everything is very clean lines and modern. In the room there is a a white fireplace with creamy marble surround and beige carpet. On either side of the fireplace wall is a window with white blinds- california shutter style. I’d like to make that my accent wall with a dark rich chocolate brown, or maybe red with perhaps a lighter colour on the other walls… I don’t know. Our living room is next to the kitchen but separated by a half wall with a white column. The cupboards in there are dark chocolate brown and we have stainless steel appliances and cream floors and counter tops. Please any specific colours or combinations and suggestions would be so very appreciate. Thanks in advance.

I think an awesome color combination with chocolate brown would be burgundies and orange or an aqua blue. Those colors would really ‘pop’ against the colors you mentioned in your living room, plus give it a modern appeal to match your kitchen (w/stainless steel appliances) and marble fireplace.
