Glass Lamp Base
I wanna buy a specific style of desk lamp it has a green shade and gold base does it have a particular name?
I really want a lamp this style from my room, but i don’t know how to search for it online and i wondered if it had a name. I dont know what era it is from, im guessing the 19th century but its pretty common and its a desk lamp it has a rectangular, green glass or plastic shade and a gold base and stem..any ideas??

Energy Saving Lights Dangerous
Is it dangerous to not eat before a gym workout?
I’m going to be leaving for the gym at about 9:30 this morning. I’ll probably stay for about an hour and a half…doing light cardio on the bike tredmill and elliptical (30 minutes on each)…
Its 6:45am here now. I have been up since 4am (fiance left for work at 3 and I just couldnt get back to sleep)…
Can I save breakfast for after the gym?
Just for some information, I’m 21 years old, almost 100lbs overweight. I’ve been going to the gym for about a month now (did not go last week becuase of a death in the family..) so i’ve been working out for 3 weeks. I have not seen any changes in my weight (but I feel changes in my energy levels etc…). I changed my diet SLIGHTLY when I began going to the gym…but as of this week I’ve cut my calorie intake down to 1,300-1,500 calories a day.
The reason I want to wait for breakfast is becuase I get hungrier later in the day and I’d like to save my calories for later.
the best thing to do in this situation is eat lightly so you have energy to actually work out. ppl tend to forget how important it is the feed the body when exercising, cause they want to lose that weight, but something like a granola bar or some kind of fruit will not deter with your work out and you will feel like you can work out even longer and get the full work out you need. then after eatting is a priority, if you dont eat after a full workout your body will crash and youll feel sick. so just remember energy food before and to complete your workout a nice balanced breakfast after.

Is there a way to turn off “smart surge” on a surge protector?
I have a Philips Energy Saver surge protector. It has this cool-in-theory “smart surge” technology that means when you turn off the master plug-in thing (my computer), the rest of the outlets turn off as well (supposed to be a printer, etc). The problem is, the other things plugged in are my alarm clock and desk lamp.
I can’t keep resetting my alarm clock, so I turned off all sleep/shutting down on my computer. That cannot be good, because it now gets really hot.
Is there anyway to disable the “smart surge” ability, so I can turn off my computer but still use my alarm clock?
Find a way to power your computer without plugging it into your master outlet. When you power off whatever is in the master outlet, that is what shuts down the rest of the outlets.

I’ve looked everywhere.Tubes are in-line.Its labeled (Only Made In China) under the lamp. I’ve found one thats similar but instead of 6400k its a 6500k found in this website:http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/Light-Bulbs/page_13. It looks exactly like it. Those it matter that it is 6500k instead of 6400k ? The lamp if it helps is a product of Kirkland’s Homes. It is a desk lamp.
The 6400k and 6500k refers to the “heat” of the lamp’s light, in Kelvin. So, 6400k means 6400 degrees Kelvin. The difference between the one you found and the one you found, light-wise, is negligible.

Do plants need sleep, or rest?
Do plants need to sleep at night or anything? I ran out of window sill for my tomato plants to be on, and I was going to use a fluorescent lamp and put the rest of them on a table with it going for a source of light. If I left the light going 24/7 would they grow more? Or, do they need a few hours break with no light? I’ll be able to plant them outside in another 2-3 weeks either way, but I was wondering.
Good question. Do plants need sleep? No. Do they need rest? That’s a tricky question. BUT, I can tell you from research/education that plants grow better with a dark period. At least 8 hours would be good. Also, as another poster said, fluorescent lighting will cause the plants to be leggier. You can “help” counter this by providing incandescent (regular ol’ lightbulbs) as well. This will help to balance the spectrum a bit. One good tip on tomatoes….don’t plant them out until the overnights are warm… probably when it doesn’t get below 60oF …it won’t do you any good unless you protect them with walls o’ water or something like that. Cool temps slow tomato plant growth. A plant planted later will often surpass one planted earlier if chilly temperatures are going on.
