Where can I buy Swag Lamp Finials?
I am having a hard time finding vintage swag lamp finials (top and bottom metal pieces) for some glass globes i have. where should i look other than ebay because im not having luck there. Thanks!

Energy Saving Bulbs Problems
What is the best tool to use to remove Energy Saving light bulbs on a high ceiling?
We have a very high ceiling that has recessed lights. One of the lights has blown and needs to be replaced. Problem is, even our longest ladder leaves us feet short of reaching the bulb. We need a tool that we can use to remove/replace the bulb without breaking them. These are the energy saving bulbs… the florescent spiral ones.

The area in question is a hotel lobby. So.. imagine trying to change a light on a second floor ceiling while standing on the ground floor… This is also the first time one of these lights have gone out since the hotel was built; and the builders took all their scaffolding with them (which is how it was put in to begin with).
You should be able to (very carefully) use the same tool you’ve used in the past for removing incandescent bulbs from these recessed fixtures.
It is true that these CFLs contain miniscule amounts of mercury, so you should exercise reasonable caution while removing the bulb – and you should be sure to take it to a CFL recycling facility for proper disposal.
If you do break the bulb accidently, be sure to open windows and doors to ventilate the room – leave the area for a little while as the mercury vaporizes and dissipates. When you return, carefully sweep up the glass shards and dispose of them with caution.

Help with nursery decor for baby boy?
I need help with decor for my baby boys nursery.. So far we have the crib, dresser, wardrobe, glider and bookshelves/shelves all in white. The walls are sage green with a white chair rail & molding.. The bedding set is called amazon jungle and it’s reds, browns, yellow & sage green with monkeys, giraffes, elephants & zebras.. I’m going to get his name painted to match the bedding to hang on the wall, and I will get cute picture frames and stuff to put on the shelves… Also we’re going to get a brown & sage green foam mat by skip hop to put on the floor… I feel as though it will be plain looking… is there anything unique and cute to put in a nursery that many people don’t think of? I want to get one of those lamps too that look like capiz shells dangling but not the capiz shells, just plastic circles but i’m not sure what they are called so i’m having trouble finding one!!
your baby’s room sounds far from plain. Remember you want it to be fun and interesting, but you don’t want him to feel like he is going to sleep in a kaleidoscope! I love those saying that you can purchase online… wall decor that are stencils that say adorable stuff like “always kiss me goodnight” (try expressivewalls.com) that would be darling over his crib. Other than that… just a few pictures on the wall, but don’t fill the walls up….you will want to frame some of his scribbly artwork when he gets older.

Are all Energy Saving Light Bulbs Florescent?
I was at the store today to get some new light bulbs for my lamp that just burnt out.
I decided to go the route of Energy Saving Bulbs and saw that the bulbs I was looking at said they were Florescent. Since I couldn’t find anything on other packages that contradicted that I assumed it was the norm and that they would light up light a regular bulb.
When I put the bulbs in they gave off that terrible cold blue laundry room Florescent glow that I didn’t want.
Are there Energy Saving Bulbs that give off a more normal light?
If so, is there a Brand you recommend?
L.E.D. bulbs should be the next “green” fad. Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, and do give off an unfriendly shade of light. There are different “shades” or color of bulbs, but most are that stark exam room variety. Look for LED or fluorescent with “warm glo” or a similar name for general lighting, bathroom or makeup mirror. Look for brilliant type bulbs for reading. LED link below…

Outlets in the floor?
We built a new house and it has a opened floor plan. The living room, dinning room & kitchen are all opened. I have no place to plug in lamps that are on the end tables because they aren’t against any walls. Wondering if it would be possible to install outlets in the floor and how hard of a project would that be?
Of course you can put outlets in the floors. It might be easier than the walls depending on the type of floors in your home.

I know it’s a bit early, but I want to be prepared. Last year when I was bringing in the outdoor lights, a set of which is path lights, I noticed a few of the holders that stake into the grass were broken. I tried to get a hold of new holders last year, but as Christmas was past I couldn’t get anything and Im having the same problem now. Can anyone help, does anyone know where I would get holders to hold up these lights they go along the edge of my lawn, or if they can think off anything I could use. Many thanks
