LED Rear lights. Why do they need to pulse on and off?

I was following a car, with red LEDs. I found them so annoying. Every time I moved my eyes I could see pulsating lights. Why do they need to do this? They work on DC but every car so equipped that I follow gives a pulsing effect. I know they are more reliable than filament lamps. Have they ever given anyone epilepsy?
Yes they do flash at a high rate which looks continuous if I do not move my eyes. They are mainly on Lexus, Jags, BMW and other newer cars.

They do flash very fast. They need to do this to be able to be bright enough. Although you should not be able to see them flashing due to the high frequency.
However I have seen them seem to flash. It may be a combination of them and street lighting

Do fluorescent lights save the environment?

I know the government and energy corporations say that if you replace all your lights with fluorescents that it will save approximately 60% of your energy bill in watts every month. My question goes deeper, if everyone in a major city was to replace all incandescents with fluorescents would the power provider simply continue to produce the same amount of power and just sell it to other power companies in need of extra energy? Also is there any long term environmental impact of throwing away a fluorescent bulb with its chemical coatings versus a simple glass bulb with tungsten core?

Power is produced as it is consumed. It is not like there is a lot of extra electricity laying around. So, if you use less, they produce less. Also, you make a very good point. You are NOT supposed to throw compact fluorescent bulbs away in the trash. I called the 1-800 number on the box of bulbs I bought and they said that stores like Lowes and Home Depot will start collecting them within the next few years. Since these bulbs last 7-10 years, there is a lag between the time that they have arrived on the market and the time that they will start collecting them for recycling.

What is the best type of (Plasma, LCD, LED) HDTV to replace an old RPTV 52 in television from the 1990s?

I’ve had this tv since 1991 and it’s has been working fine up until a few months ago. I’m ready to place it with an HDTV. The tv is located the corner of a large family room with it’s only light source being two lamps and a ceiling fan.

There are so many out there that it’s difficult to know which one to buy isn’t it? I think you need to try and narrow it down to a couple that meet your needs from the TV.

There’s a review of various models but before I mention that it’s worth mentioning the Panasonic range. With some televisions, you can get a bad picture view when you look at it from an angle and you’ll notice poor picture focus. You won’t notice those problems with the Panasonic. You get great, clear pictures no matter where you are when you look at the screen.

I have a kind of odd electrical problem in my room…?

I have a strip plugged in the has my computer, my stereo, printer, desk lamp, and my dvd player plugged into it, and that is plugged into an outlet in my room. In the other spot on the outlet is my tv. Recently, my tv stopped working when the strip is plugged into the outlet. When the TV is plugged in, anything that is on the strip won’t work. I plugged the strip into another outlet in my room, and the same problem occured. I also tried plugging the tv into the strip, and it still didn’t work. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Should I try buying a new strip? Thank you!

Moving? Where is a good place (online) to buy stuff to start off a house?

My boyfriend and I are moving in together. We are renting a house. The place has a nice size living room, two bedrooms and really nice size kitchen, a sun room, a basement that is finished, a lundry room, and a bath room. Well my question is where would be a good place online that is a good price to buy things to start you off in a first home. So far we have a sofa bed, coffee table, two tv stands, two tvs, two dvd players, a stero, a bed, a chest for clothes, a full size and half size book case, an end table, three lamps, two desk, two laptops, and I would say thats pretty much it.. Lol. What would be some good things that are a must for starting off! They already have an oven and fridge. Any ideas? I don’t wanna be going crazy when we move in about stuff we dont have but need?

Of course food would be number one, lol. Get canned food, boxed food, then fruits, veggies, meats. Stuff that won’t go bad quickly, because you’ll be doing lots of house work & quick meals that you can make at home are the best.

I am allowed to paint my room (but not have fur). I can’t change any of my furniture, but i can get a few new things (like a chair, or a small lounge, or a floor lamp, or a privacy screen). My furniture right now is all white and has a little flower design. Not flower power, like pretty flowers. My dresser, desk, corner unit, night table and sleigh bed are all like that. I also have a toy box that i must keep. What do i do to make my room more funky and less pretty flowers. I love Alex Russo’s room, how do i get my room like hers? What do i buy or do? What is an “A” lamp?

I bought a new bedroom lamp and it has a warning, “Risk of Fire. Use only “A” lamp” bulbs. The picture looks like a regular incandescent bulb, but I was hoping to put an energy saving twisty flourescent bulb in that lamp. Is it safe? The only bulbs I can find that have the “A” on them seem to have a heavier looking base.

The lamps shade should have a label stating what the max wattage it can handle is (usually 40 or 60 for table lamps). but if you want to use an energy saver bulb thats fine since they produce much less heat than normal bulbs. dont worry about the “A” thing a CF (compact flourescent or energy saver) bulb will be perfectly safe in your lamp.
