Random Ladybugs on my wall or lamp?
I live in a 2nd floor apartment in NYC and my bedroom window is shut because i have an a/c. So lately I’ve been spotting a ladybug either on my wall or lamp. I remove the bug from my bedroom and two days later a new one appears in the same spot. How is this possible???
Certain years they are a problem but it is rare. You probably won’t go through this again next year or for many years thereafter. But when they are in great number they manage to get into buildings via vents, crack and holes. Think of how lucky you are, some people have problems like rat infestation!

Floor Lamp Kids Room
Kid proof floor outlet covers?
I have a couple floor outlets in my living room for my lamps. I need to have these lamps plugged in to have light in the room. I am looking for floor outlet covers that would be child proof, and still let me use the lamps. Has anyone found something that would work? I am thinking of just using the regular brass floor outlet covers and then just plug the lamps in when I need them.

I find that ones that kind of look like these work well. I can’t even get them out of the wall sometimes, so I doubt a child could. Plus they only cover the parts of the outlet you want.

How to Install OPTx LED Windshield Washer Nozzles?
I purchased these to replace my factory washer nozzle because I was missing one, and the directions make no sense to me. It talks of connecting the RED wire to the corner parking light and the BLACK wire to the vehicles chassis ground. The problem is that there’s no red wire. There is a black wire, and a black wire with a white stripe. Is it safe to assume that the black wire with white stripe is the “RED” wire? Secondly, when looking at my lights for my 03 Ford Focus zx3 there are three wires for each lamp. A black wire, which I assume is the correct one and two gray wires with a green stripe. Please help!
your assumption is correct. black is ground, striped is power. as for the headlights, it probably wouldn’t hurt it to test all three… haha, but i dunno bout that.

No. They are only as potentially dangerous as any other old-fashioned florescent light bulb you have been around for the last 50 years. Same exact technology. Only these ones are alot smaller, so they have less mercury. They’ve been putting much larger ones in elementary school classrooms, cafeterias, public kitchens, daycare centers for decades, and mercury is very stable (despite it’s toxicity), and there is no way it can go through solid glass unless it cracks, then the bulb won’t work, no matter how small the crack is, so you if your husband is worried about mercury, tell him to stop eating seafood.

how do I burn a kerosine lamp with a glass globe and wick?
I found a wonderful looking wick lamp but I can’t get it to burn well.
I let only the bottom part of the wick soak before I tried lighting it and it was burning the cotton wick but after I posted the question, I soked the whole wick and it works wonderfuly. It’s an awesome beautiful antique lamp and will be a center piece I have for a long time. thanks everyone
pour oil in the bottom part of the lamp, and make sure the wick is in the oil. Pull the wick up through the top part and then screw the top part into the bottom (some just have a side place to fill with oil).
make sure the wick is trimmed, that is that the tip of the wick does not poke out from the place it is held and does not smoke. It should be a fan-shaped flame.

CFL- Why not cheap if so very useful?
Don’t u think CFL lights which consume many times less and saves many times more energy than ‘ incandescent bulbs’ ,should be made less costly ?
CFL is a bulb which is of great use especially in this era of ” caarbon emission”.
Though this bulb lasts 5 times more than normal bulbs , it is greatly ” misunderstood”.
This misunderstanding is all because of its comparitively HIGH COST.
No matter how much worthy CFL can prove itself than incandescent bulbs, people happily do the
foolishness of buying incandescent bulbs.
SO DON’T U FEEL SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT ITS COST [ at least the manufacturers of CFL aren't foolish].
Purchase them in contractor packs. They are much cheaper when you purchase multiples. It’s easy to justify…..wait till you see your first electric bill with all CFL’s. We noticed a drop immediately.

Which finderscope to use?
I have a 3 inch reflector and it is pretty good but I am finding it hard to find what I want in the sky because I can’t see though my finderscope at all. It seems to catch the light (from street lamps) on the glass finder and so I can’t see the stars through it at all.

I find the 9 by 50 very usable with light pollution. Skywatcher btw.
I have the red dot finder (recently purchased, no instructions) but not used it yet. But I was considering an old trick when using visual inclinometers, that is look through it with both eyes. That is use the right (or which ever you prefer, middle one even) eye through the finder and left eye to look at the sky. Its a bit of a knack to get used to it but when I am using the inclinometer for work, it is very easy.
One eye will see the dot, the other will see the sky.
